UChoose winners announced!

People living in Newport, West Lane and Whinney Banks turned out in force on 25th June to cast their votes at a public voting event to decide which projects should get money from WMNT's popular UChoose pot.

Many applications were put forward for funding from the UChoose programme this year - and 20 were awarded a UChoose grant.

2011 is the fourth year that WMNT has run the scheme, with WMNT putting forward £15k of funding and Macmillan Academy contributing £15k too. UChoose is designed to give people living in Newport, West Lane and Whinney Banks a chance to come up with their own ideas and projects to make a difference to their area – and bid for funding from the UChoose pot.

The maximum grant available for each project was £2000.

Projects were assessed by WMNT’s Neighbourhood Management Group to ensure they met the programme’s criteria, and were then put forward to the public voting event where residents of West Middlesbrough voted for the projects they thought delivered the most benefits to the area.
