A lot of our activity during the year focused on developing new ways of managing the neighbourhood and involving local people, managing our performance and assessing how our assets can be best used.
Key achievements 2004 - 2005
- Good progress was made developing new ways of involving local residents - including young people and the black and minority ethnic community. New ways of involving hard-to-reach groups were also looked at, including the expansion of the Multi-Cultural Group and attendance at community events.
- A door-to-door survey was carried out to assess how involved residents want to be in WMNT's work so that we can target our resources better.
- A Residents' Panel was set up to help shape how things are done in the future.
- Community events - including fun days, a gardening competition and our first community awards ceremony to honour our ‘unsung heroes' - continued to bring residents together.
- The skills and confidence of ten local residents were developed through the Effective Community Involvement and Leadership programme.
- The Annual Information Pack was introduced, including an A to Z of services, an annual report, a calendar and a Christmas card.
