| Alcohol Counselling Service |
| A Substance Misuse Counsellor has been in post since November 2001, providing one-to-one, confidential counselling support for adults in West Middlesbrough experiencing problems with alcohol - this may be an individual, partner, family member or friend. |
| West Middlesbrough Health Team |
The West Middlesbrough Health Team is a flagship project for West Middlesbrough and brings together a number of initiatives to help improve the health and well being of West Middlesbrough residents. Current projects within the programme include: |
| Health and Social Care Worker |
A Health and Social Care Worker dedicated to West Middlesbrough works as part of a five-strong team established in March 2003 to make sure national standards in the care of the elderly were met in Middlesbrough. |
| West Middlesbrough Welfare Rights Advice Project |
| A Welfare Rights Officer works with West Middlesbrough residents to help make sure they are receiving all the welfare benefits and tax credits they are entitled to. |
| Health Promotion Service |
| The Health Promotion Service employs a Community Health Development Worker for West Middlesbrough and a multi-lingual Community Health Promoter. |
| Public Health Nursing Team |
The Public Health Nursing Team is based at the Whinney Banks site of Sure Start West Middlesbrough and includes School Nurses, Health Visitors, Nursery Nurses and Community Parent Advisors. The team offers a wide range of health services, activities and support including: |

| To provide advice and support to parents and appropriate professionals so they can help children communicate with language and speech appropriate to their age and ability |
| Clinical Psychology Service |
| Additional psychological services are being provided to West Middlesbrough residents, including: |
| Reducing drug and alcohol abuse |
The project is designed to improve access to substance misuse services by providing extra locally-based support, assessment and treatment services. |
| Middlesbrough Mind Recovery Project |
The Recovery Project provides:
· mental health information
· one-to-one emotional support
· support groups and courses for people from West Middlesbrough who have any mental health needs. |
| CSV Retired Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) |
To encourage residents aged 50 and over to take an active part in their community, both socially and through physical activities, leading to healthier lifestyles and social inclusion. Residents are also encouraged to take part in Middlesbrough-wide consultations about many topical issues, making sure that they have a say in the future services of the town. |
