| WMNT organises skills and knowledge training for Board members, staff and residents including courses in project management, media, finance, equality and diversity and conflict analysis. |
| Community Events |
| A variety of community events are helping to bring residents closer together, making more people aware of WMNT and its activities and encouraging people to get involved in community life. |
| Neighbourhood Trust Development (including community involvement) |
The future of WMNT and the role of the Board is being developed by the Neighbourhood Trust Development Team which is responsible for piloting new ways of working, identifying services which can be delivered and managed by WMNT and encouraging more local people to become ‘community leaders’ and get more involved in the life of their own communities. |
| e-Enabling the Board |
| West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust is managed by a Board consisting of eleven volunteers elected by local residents, thirteen representatives of key local organisations including the local authority, the local community health trust and local business representatives, and three youth representatives – a total of twenty seven members. |
| WMNT resource centre |
A new £1million resource centre is being developed on the site of a former community centre and health clinic in Newport. |
| ICT Infrastructure |
This project has introduced a robust ICT infrstructure for WMNT. The infrastructure allows all staff and Board Members to share a common e-mail and diary system. It provides shared working environments for WMNT, the Trust Board and projects sponsored by WMNT. It also provides wireless links bewteen WMNT offices, which will be the bedrock for a wireless network upon which we can build future projects. |
| Asset Management Strategy |
| The asset management strategy is being developed to identify land and buildings in the WMNT area and, where possible, buy them so that WMNT can make the best use of them that will bring the most benefits to West Middlesbrough residents and businesses. |
