Training for Board members and residents

Theme: Investing In Our Neighbourhood

Project Description: WMNT organises skills and knowledge training for Board members, staff and residents including courses in project management, media, finance, equality and diversity and conflict analysis.

In addition, the West Middlesbrough Community Involvement and Leadership Programme was developed together with Skillshare North East, in response to a request from Board members.

The programme is designed to help people to:

  • have more confidence, knowledge and skills when representing their area or organisation
  • be more informed of local, regional and national structures
  • better understand the issues affecting the community
  • be better informed and equipped to influence change and help their group achieve its goals and objectives
  • learn how to work as a member of a team

Two programmes have been held for West Middlesbrough residents involved with WMNT to equip them with the personal skills and knowledge of local issues they will need to really make a difference in their neighbourhood.

Two of the participants have since taken seats on the WMNT Board and another has taken the role of Chair of a management committee.  Others are involved in theme groups or individual projects.

If you work, your employer may consider allowing you to attend the course as part of your personal development.  WMNT can provide a letter for your employer with details of the programme if needed.

When Project Starts and Ends: The original Neighbourhood Trust Development Project set up in 2003 was merged with the current project in April 2005.  Current project runs from April 2005 to March 2007.
