WMNT is transforming areas in West Middlesbrough into useable green space, tidying up the neighbourhood and helping local people restore a sense of pride in the area.
Our objective is:
- To improve the environment of West Middlesbrough for the benefit of people who live, work and visit the area
Partnership working has lead to the transformation of derelict and underused open spaces into new community parks and sports facilities and smaller scale schemes are helping to improve residents’ parking, tidying up alleyways and adding a splash of colour to the area.
West Middlesbrough now boasts an all-weather sports pitch, a brand new community park and a revamped park and playground area which has been transformed into a vibrant open space for all to enjoy.
Much still remains to be done, in particular, developing a long term agreement about better maintenance and management of the environment to ensure the improvements are long lasting. Making sure environmental schemes improve community safety in the neighbourhood – including better street lighting, traffic layout and safe play areas – is also a key priority.
What the Residents’ Panel said: Two thirds of Residents’ Panel members think we are making a difference and improving how the area looks.
