£315,000 has been ploughed in to transform this previously run down and underused area into a space for all to enjoy.
£240,000 was provided by WMNT, £60,000 came from Barratt Homes and £15,000 was provided by environmental charity, REACT.
The run down playground facilities have been upgraded, 55 semi-mature trees have been planted, and the old ball court has been replaced with a new, modern, safer and more accessible ball court which caters for football and basketball.
Within the playground area there are two separate play areas - one for toddlers and one for older children, including teenagers. Five-sided swings, twisting swings, a modern roundabout called the Supernova Spinner and an urban modern climbing frame called Galaxy grace the older play facility while traditional swings, a roundabout and rocking games are amongst some of the facilities in the toddlers’ play area.
The money invested by REACT went specifically toward planting trees and towards funding environmental education, through assemblies to local schools. Tees Forest took the lead on this and targeted every school in the area to make sure local children knew what was happening in the park and found out more about the importance trees have to our environment.
