Maldon Road

Theme: Improving the Living Environment

Project Description: Residents in Maldon Road approached WMNT to ask for work to be carried out on an area of woodland next to the ‘backlands’ footpath that leads to the A66 footbridge.  The woodland was quite overgrown leading to some residents feeling unsafe when using the footpath.

With support from local residents the Wildlife Trust, WM Community Caretakers and WMNT’s Environmental Projects Officer organised a programme of work that has seen the area transformed.  Vegetation was cleared and thinned out to lighten the footpath.  Everything that was cut down was recycled by using the chippings in the woodland.
