The site was previously a run down outdoor sports area which badly needed upgrading.
WMNT worked closely with Newport Area Residents’ Association (NARA) which identified the run down pitch as a priority for redevelopment in Newport.
The site now features a high specification community sports facility with two pitches with markings for five-a-side football and other games such as tennis. The all-weather surface is floodlit and surrounded by protective fencing.
The all-weather pitch is open to the whole community, including pupils from Newport Primary School, which is next door to the sports area, during school hours.
Landscaping improvements have also been carried out, including a new footpath and seating for spectators.
