AIM is a crime mapping system which uses up to date information to pinpoint crime ‘hot spots’ and provide an instant response to deal with them.
Once a week representatives from the major partners involved in reducing crime, disorder, fires and anti-social behaviour across Middlesbrough meet to discuss issues. Before each meeting, representatives from the Police, Fire Service, Street Wardens, Streetscene Services, Anti-Social Behaviour Team, WMNT Community Safety Manager, CCTV and Abandoned Vehicles Officer supply a report to the AIM Manager. The details from these reports are plotted on a map which shows where crime and other incidents are occurring. The map is then used to identify any trends and ‘hotspots’ and resources are then deployed to tackle them.
