Health Through Warmth

Background to the project

Health Through Warmth is a £10 million project that delivers training to key health workers.  This training enables NHS staff and other key workers to identify those most at risk from cold related illness caused from living in cold and damp conditions.

Health Through Warmth is a partnership between npower, the NHS and NEA; the National Energy Action charity, local authorities and community groups.

Cold homes, high healthcare costs, cold-related illnesses, excess winter deaths and housing in poor repair are the visible signs of fuel poverty, a problem that affects over 4.5 million households in the UK.  Health Through Warmth offers a comprehensive solution to this problem by working with experts to seek out those suffering from cold and damp related illnesses.

  • Working in partnership to facilitate the installation of energy efficient measures (e.g. cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, draught proofing and in extreme cases heating systems) to make clients homes warmer, drier and cheaper to heat.
  • Providing a npower crisis fund to supply funding for people and measures not covered by other schemes.

People do NOT have to be npower customers to receive help from Health Through Warmth
