WMNT has developed a range of projects to help residents find work, training and enterprise opportunities and support businesses to grow and prosper.
Key achievements 2004 - 2005
- The At Work Recruitment Agency found work for 110 West Middlesbrough residents between April 2004 and March 2005.
- West Middlesbrough Business Advice Service was introduced to offer guidance and support to help businesses grow and develop.
- WMNT’s dedicated Social Enterprise Officer helped launch social enterprises in West Middlesbrough including a youth café and an outdoor pursuits company.
- WMNT introduced a scheme for unemployed West Middlesbrough residents through Pertemps. The scheme helped 19 people in its first few months of operation.
- A purpose-built Employment Action Centre opened its doors in West Middlesbrough to support disabled people accessing training, job opportunities and information.
The centre is run by the Shaw Trust and part-funded by WMNT.
- The Building Bureau began to offer local residents training opportunities.
